Summer school on the physics of star formation

Synopsis

Stars are the building blocks of our Universe. Not only do they synthetise all heavy elements such as carbon and oxygen, but they heat and energize their surrounding medium and host planets, the cradle of life. Understanding star formation is therefore of broad and fundamental interest in astrophysics and beyond. Yet it is an extremely rich multi-scale and multi-physics process which entails several fields of knowledge in interaction.

The purpose of the school is to provide the newer generation of scientists working in this field with the basic knowledge necessary to carry out research in this field. Students and early postdocs are particularly welcome to register.

The school will occur in Les Houches from the 06/07/2026 to the 31/07/2026.

The school is co-organised and sponsored by the ECOGAL european project and the PCMI french national program.
